Thank you for reaching out. Virgil James Wallace, originally from Madison, Wisconsin, was my great-uncle--my grandfather's older brother (pictured together--see attachment--Virgil is on the right). I do not know much about his time in the service, as he died in 1985, but my grandfather fought with the 2nd and 5th Marine Divsions during WWII. I would certainly love to know more about my Great-Uncle Virgil, aka "Uncle Jim." Thanks, again!

I am the genealogist/archivist for our family. We are rather excited about this newfound information, as this is most certainly our beloved "Uncle Jim."
You have our blessing, of course. We might even be able to provide a few more photos, and some additional information, if needed; however, it would likely take a few weeks.
Virgil James Wallace had only one child with his first wife, Ruth, a son named Ivan J. Wallace, after his great-uncle Ivan Knapp, son of Myrtle Jane Fisher Knapp, Virgil's maternal grandmother. Virgil's family spent some time on the West Coast (Washington/California). According to family lore, Ivan Wallace was murdered on July 20th, 1972, by the Hell's Angels--something to do with his owning a motorcycle shop or dealership in Orange County, California (I need to do some more digging on this subject). Virgil was remarried, to Margaret Clara Link, on July 17th, 1954, in Brawley, Imperial, California. They had no children. Virgil returned to the Madison, Wisconsin area, with Margaret, at some point. He passed away on January 9th, 1985, in Middleton, Dane, Wisconsin, from a cardiac event, after chopping wood. My Great-Aunt Margaret passed away in 2004.
The following was written by Stanley H. Wallace (Virgil's younger brother), my late great-uncle who inspired me to start my own family tree:
